How WakeGuard handles your data
Last updated July 13, 2026. WakeGuard is a smart alarm app. This policy explains what data the app uses, when data leaves your device, and how users can delete account data.
WakeGuard does not sell personal data or track users across apps or websites.
Account and cloud data
Creating a WakeGuard account is optional. The app still works locally without sign-in.
If you sign in, WakeGuard uses Firebase to store your account identifier, email address, display name, optional profile photo, cloud alarm backups, and basic sync metadata.
Users can delete their account inside the app. That deletes the WakeGuard cloud profile, profile photo, and cloud alarm backups.
Analytics and crash reporting
WakeGuard uses Firebase Analytics to understand onboarding progress and failed sync events, and Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes.
These events are used for app quality, reliability, and sync troubleshooting. They are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Data that stays on the device
Alarms, timers, display settings, app preferences, dismissal history, wake-challenge configuration, and backup dismissal code material are stored locally unless the user signs in for cloud backup.
Wake-challenge camera images are processed on the phone for QR or object verification and are not saved by WakeGuard.
Device permissions
WakeGuard requests permissions only when needed, including camera access for QR or object verification, Bluetooth for optional accessory pairing, location when required by the operating system for nearby Bluetooth scanning, photo library access for optional profile pictures, and notifications for alarm reminders.
Optional weather lookup
If optional weather display features are used, the phone may request approximate weather information from third-party services such as ipapi.co and Open-Meteo.
WakeGuard does not retain this weather lookup data.
Medical disclaimer
WakeGuard is a routine-support tool and is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent narcolepsy, sleep disorders, or any other medical condition.
Users should talk with a qualified clinician before making medical decisions.
